ESMS - a fabulous school on E91

Visited East Side Middle School for the third time, my third and last visit in which I tried to teach more than thirty teachers how to teach Sahaja Meditation to their students. I’ll be fascinated to see the outcome.

I mentioned to David Getz, the principal, that I’m involved with developing a mental resilience course within HealthCorps. His jaw dropped because he’s working on the same concept right now.

There’s surprisingly little on mental resilience and how to develop it - indeed, can it be taught? Certainly, there are steps that can be taught that in theory would inculcate it - but is the reality that it does?

The teachers meditated well - I played Thomas Tallis and one teacher mentioned something that my wife would hug him for. He said that when the music was flowing, it facilitated his meditation, but there were moments of tension in the music when he actually stopped meditating - a terrific point, and the end of Tallis from Alan’s meditation music repertoire.

I’ve never been asked such a high level of questions by any group and also tremendous insights too.

Saturday morning meditation in Shri Mataji’s house in New Jersey

Nowhere do I find it easier to meditate in thoughtless awareness than here.

Why are entrances and bridges fascinating?

Here’s a house on W254th in Riverdale - my attention is captivated every time I walk past which I do most mornings when taking my dog for a walk. I like the doorway, and the way it looks framed between the stone pillars of the entrance way.

A secondary meaning of entrance is to fill with wonder and delight, holding their entire attention.

Bridges, of course, apart from having a unique beauty of their own, are connections, and what matters more to humans?

What are the future and the past?

One butt, three seats on the New York subway - Selfish?

You have to feel some compassion for overly large people, but, if you look at this, these passengers could make room on a crowded train for one other person by just occupying two seats instead of three. However, to do that, their butt would be in the uncomfortable place between two seats so they occupy three instead.
